TASK 2: Case Study - Press/Media Packs

By looking at this press pack, I can tell that there is over 3 quarter more male readers in comparison to female readers. This shows that the target audience of this magazine are males as the magazine is mainly about hip-hop which appeals to males more often than females. They also have a relatively young audience at 27 which may explain the contents I had found in the magazine which included swearing that was blocked out. Also, only 44.7% of the readers were college educated which could suggest they are used to this type of language.

By looking at the Vibe press pack I can tell that there is a more even distribution of readers from men to women. 55% of readers are male readers whereas 45% are female. This is due to the other contents that the magazine also has apart from music; they have entertainment, fashion and pop-culture. They have a higher median age than the median age of the XXL magazine which could mean that the audience of this magazine are more mature. Also most of them are employed, compared to XXL in which only less than half were college educated.
